1 CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES $ s Jockey Eddie Lcgere arrived here yesterday and will toil for Al Dunn while getting into condition to resume riding. An operation for removal of a throat obstruction was performed by Dr. C. N. Finch on M. Vehons Threadneedle here several days ago. Threadneedle was second in the Kentucky Oaks here last spring. Cancelling a scheduled visit to Arlington Downs, W. H. Hurst, son-in-law of Ethel V. Mars, and Bert B. Williams, trainer of Mrs. Hursts stable, returned from the Milky Way Farm at Pulaski, Tenn. To Samuel H. McMcekin, Churchill Downs official, the increased number of inquiries concerning Downs stakes nominations, condition books and other matters pertinent to horsemen is a sure sign of greater interest in the coming spring meeting. Such inquiries have been running far above last year, according to McMeekin. From information received by track superintendent Tom. Young, the stable trained by Kirby Ramsey goes to New York from Miami instead of Kentucky as formerly. James Chesneys Professor Paul and Cristate will be pointed fcr the Clark Handicap, 0,000 added fixture down for renewal here on May 1, opening day of the meeting. The Chesncy stars arrived here from Hot Springs several days ago. Jack Hanover is taking up the three-year-old Good Heritage. to train for Dr. Marshek, of Chicago. The two-year-old Judge Pan, which wintered at Golden Maxim Farm has been placed in training by Edward Snyder. Owned by Henry H. Cross Tranquillity Farm, Judge Pan is a gelded son of Judge Hay and Generola. Snyder also announced lliat the three two-year-olds Cross purchased from Jack P. Atkin in California a few days ago will remain at the Atkin Farm until fall. The Chicago-owned Blue Ridge Farm stable maintained by Mr. and Mrs. William OToole, together with several other horses trained by Otto Bagley, is expected from HofSprings within the next few days. Stalls for the string will be bedded at Churchill Downs. John Marsch, owner of one of the. larger stables here, returns from Chicago Sunday. Roscoo Goose, trainer of the Marsch horses, has abandoned plans to race a few at Keeneland but will gq to the Lexington track, for several of the more important programs during the meeting. Morris Vehon, Chicago patron, his wife and their son came here from Lexington with Jake Lowenstein and will remain a few days with a view to seeing some of the Vehon horses in brisk training moves. Lowenstein is training the Vehon racers. He went to Lexington to inspect the Vehon breeding stock at Horace Davis Military Stock Farm.
