1 BOWIE TURF NOTES C Bryan Steele, who serves with the official family at Narragansett Park, arrived from New Orleans and stopped off at Bowie for a short stay pending connections for New England. William Shewbridge and Gil Haus, who will have charge of racing at Middleburg, Va., on Saturday, left late Friday for the Middleburg Hunt Race Association course. John Lyons, In charge of box seats at Bowie, suffered a leg injury on Wednesday and was removed to South Baltimore General Hospital. Harry Leighton, who served as guard on the paddock gate at Bowie, dropped dead of heart failure late Wednesday. General J. R. Malazan of the Mexican army and party will be guests of the management Saturday. Paul F. Ratti arrived from Florida and expects to secure more material for racing in New England. The Ratti horses are awaiting his arrival at Narragansett Park. Zebulo, scheduled to start in the third race Friday, was discovered to be ineligible for the event and was withdrawn by the stewards.
