- - , I JOHNSON SUCCEEDS MICHELlj I AS DENEMARK TRAINER ; BOWIE, Md., April 9. June Johnson, for many years stable foreman of the Mrs. Emil Denemark stable, was appointed trainer of that establishment following the suspension of trainer Bert Michell by the Florida Racing Commission. Johnsons selection was made known by Emil Denemark from Chicago and he will immediately take over the extensive string of the Chicago sportswoman that is quartered at Havre de Grace, Md. Michell also trained the horses of Elmer Dale Shaffer of Louisville, who has not yet announced a successor. Michell was suspended by the Florida body when a saliva test of the horse All Round a starter at Tropical Park on March 23, was found to show a positive reaction to strychnine. All Round finished eighth in the race, but was reported to have acted badly in the paddock previous to being taken on the track. Michell, reached at Havre de Grace, vigorously denied any knowledge of stimulation, pointing out that the many winners of the stable during the winter season were subjected to the test and were given a clean bill of health. He also voiced complete confidence in his stable help and was at a loss to explain the presence of the drug.
