H0LLYR00D WILL NOT START Count Morse to Carry Top Weight in Phoenix Handicap. Calumet Farm Colorbearer Given Final Workout Over Farm Track for Saturdays Stake Engagement, LEXINGTON, Ky., April 14. Count Morse, speedy four-year-old son of Reigh Count and Nellie Morse, in Warren Wrights Calumet Farm, will be starting high weight in the Phoenix- Handicap, feature of Keenelands inaugural program Saturday, it became known today when Hal Price Headley announced that Hollyrood would not be a starter. The latter colt had been assigned 122 pounds, two more than will be shouldered by Count Morse. The Calumet colt was given his final preparation for Saturays Stake over the farm course this morning, and trainer Frank Kearns pronounced him in readiness. Count Morso was one of the busiest of the better horses at Hialeah Park during the winter and was given a slight vacation upon his return here from the South. Capt. Cal, a member of the Tranquillity Farm, which Edward Snyder brought here from Louisville, promises to be the second high weight of the field for the ,500 added dash of six furlongs, and he will have the sensational Basil James in the saddle. Irving Anderson will be up on Count Morse. Other probable contestants in the Phoenix are Appealing, Wha Hae, Marica, Pelerine, Preeminent, Airy Going, Dellor, White Tie, Proph, Sir Jim James, Kermay and Adolf. Some of the latter are three-year-olds, however, and may start in the Faraway Purse over the same distance instead. LAST MINUTE PREPARATIONS. Preparations for having the plant in complete readiness for the opening went smoothly ahead today, but all major changes have been completed and only final details required attention. Sidney S. Brown and Fred Burton made much progress in checking registration lists, and issuance of badges will be made tomorrow. Under the direction of Oscar Levy, the all-electric totalizator .underwent operating tests throughout the day so that it can be manned tomorrow morning when Mort Shaw, director of the pari-mutuel department, calls the roll and puts his crew through a preview. Milford Unger arrived from Cincinnati to take charge of the admission department, a post he also held at the autumn meeting, and he reported his department as ready. Arriving tomorrow from his home in New Jersey, Pierre Lorillard, Jr., will assume his duties as presiding steward. While here he will be the guest of Major Louie A. Beard. Lorillard has had considerable experience in the East as a steward, but this will be the first position in this section of the country. With the arrival of starter William Hamilton from Louisville, and A. R. Winters, a placing judge, from his West Virginia home tomorrow, the official staff will be complete.
