SPEEDY RETURN, well ridden, got through a narrow opening on the inside of CAN ELE after leaving the back stretch, opened up a good lead after turning for home, but had to be shaken up near the end to bold BOLAMOLA safe and just lasted to win. BOLAMOLA came fast in the middle of the track through the stretch and would have won in a few more strides. SUE GRAFTON saved ground in the stretch and was goin strongly at the end. CAN ELE had the most early speed, but tired in the stretch run. CRYSTAL IMVGE was in close quarters around the first turn. CUMULATIVE was done after making a strong move around the far turn. GOLDEN IVY sprinted to the front at once to open up a good lead and, stealing away from the field after leaving the back stretch, had enough lett at the end to hold ALICE JEAN. The latter, probably best, was in close quarters early, but came fast to find an opening and was gaining at the end. MISS BALKO lacked her usual early speed, but made up some ground. Won driving; second and third the same. MASTERPIECE raced to the front, early and, racing CHIEF PILOT into submission, saved ground in the stretch and held FANFERN safe at the end. The latter was always close to the pace and made a game finish, but was not good enough. SEMAPHORE was slow to get going, but moved up fast on the outside approaching the stretch turn and, although racing wide on the turn, finished in resolute fashion. TENACE made a strong move on the inside approaching the stretch turn, but hung in the final drive. SOUTHERN BELLE tired after making a move approaching the stretch turn. JOCKWELL was never dangerous. OUR CAROLYNE raced close up and, coming fast in the middle of the track through the stretch, cau;ht JUDGE KAVANAGH and was going away at the finish. JUDGE KAVANAGH saved ground in the early part to take a short lead around the stretch turn, but could not resist the winner,- although finishing- fairly well. SOME GOOD had enough speed to remain close to the pace, but was caught in close quarters between, the. winner and JUDGE KAVANAGH in the stretch and was -forced to take back. THE BAILIFF was slow to ge going, but closed some ground. PRINCESS ATHENE was in close quarters early., MAGNANI5IOUS showed good early speed, but tired. DRAWN SWORD broke down in the first quarter. TORNILLO was weakly handled and closed gamely on his own courage. SUPREME COURT loomed up dangerously approaching the stretch turn, but raced very wide in the stretch and tired.
