CATOMAR. was hustled into a contending position going to the first turn, followed close to KALEIDA until midway of the back stretch, moved into a short lead, then withstood a long drive willingly to outstay SUN MICA. The latter improved his position on the outside, rallied to punishment and was wearing down the winner at every stride approaching the Finish. MOLASSES BOB worked his way forward on the inside, reached the winner in the final eighth, but faltered right at the end. TORQUIL, prominent from the beginning, tired after making a bold challenge midway of the final turn. SWIFT FLASH could not menace seriously. MORE T01SE was held safe. KALEIDA was done early. Won easily; second and third driving. j TEDEMA took command immediately .after the start, showed good speed in the footing, came out into the better part of the track when reaching the stretch and drew out without effort at the close. HERALDIC, prominent and stoutly ridden, finished gamely, but was no match for the winner. FANCY THAT broke sluggishly, was rushed up fast on the outside, lost much ground entering the stretch, then was steered to the inside in the final eighth. GRACKY finished gamely, but could not threaten. HAPPY VOTE was .hurried stoutly to enter contention, but tired from being hurried early. MICRO could not better its position. . WAY OUT was outrun. TONEY BOY raced forwardly while saving ground and held on well to prove best of the others. EL BANDIDO, in closest pursuit of the winner in the early running, tired in the stretch drive. DONA DULCIN could not threaten when the real test came. DILWIN was unable to menace. HAPPY ROAD was never dangerous. ALS PRIDE could not enter contention. HAPPY HOST was outrun. The latter, kept close to the leaders on the outside, challenged stoutly in the last three-sixteenths, but was not good enough. CLINGENDAAL was rushed vigorously to take command in the first quarter mile, saved ground thereafter, but tired in the final eighth. WAR EMBLEM was stoutly handled throughout and held on well. SIR QUEST was unable to threaten when placed to punishment. GREEN MELON, well up with his field until the turn, dropped back steadily thereafter. ITSIE BITSIE moved out into a long lead, saved much ground throughout, but had too much taken out of her and tired fast in the final eighth. THE MAULER worked his way forward swiftly after settling into his stride, came to the outside and finished fastest. SALLANDRY was unable to threaten seriously. SUMAC raced well placed, but could not menace when the real test came. RELATIVITY raced in the first flight and pulled up very lame. RUDENIA could not enter a forward position. The latter, always in a contending position; finished with good courage. INFILEE, slow as usual to find her best stride, moved up resolutely.in the final quarter mile and finished stoutly. DEARZIN raced evenly, but could not better his position. METTLE showed good early speed, but tired from her efforts. . HAPPY FLAG closed some ground. MR. MARVEL was never a serious factor.
