PAWTUCKET STAKE ENTRIES Twenty-Eight Initial Nominations for 0,000 Narragansett Eace. Low Cost of Supplementary Nomination 1 Should Result in Later Additions-Other Stakes Fill WcIL PAWTUCKET, R. I., April 22. The seven important handicaps which feature the spring racing meeting at Narragansett Park have attracted a highly formidable list of nominations, it was announced today by racing secretary Pat Horgan. Despite the strenuous competition of tracks in New York, Chicago, California, Teas and especially Kentucky at this time of year, Narragansett is assured of large fields of top flight campaigners in all its stakes, the nominations reveal. Initial subscriptions for the 525,000 or 550,- 000 Narragansett Special closed April 15 with twenty-eight nominations, including Seabiscuit, Columbiana, Corundum, Good Goods, Calumet Dick, Charing Cross, Sir Damion. Maedic, Maeriel, M.antagna, Trau-love, Fencing, Sceneshifter, Red Rain, Roustabout, Snark, Esposa, Isolater, and Clodion. Supplementary nominations may be made up to and including July 15, and because of the low cost of the supplementary fee, many additional nominations are certain to eventuate. The special will be run Saturday, September 11. The most popular event of the spring meeting appears to be the Old Colony, a 55,000 added allowance event for two-year-olds, to be run Saturday, May 22. The distance i3 five furlongs. Sixty-five juveniles are named for the Old Colony. OPENING DAY FEATURE. Twenty-seven of the best sprinters in the country have been nominated for the 53,500 added Narragansett Handicap, to be run opening day, Saturday, May 1. Marshall Fields Tintagel and Swahili, William H. Gallaghers Rudie, C. V. Whitneys Bagpipe, Wheatley Stables worlds record holding Snark, Araho Stables trio of New Deal, Mucho Gusto and Jackie D., Townsend B. Martins Liberal, Miss A. Doris Lady Higloss, Dixianas Erin Torch and Miss Prudence, Mrs. Marion Cassidys Bill Farnsworth, and H. E. Engers sensational Zoic are among those named for the feature. Forty juvenile fillies have been nominated for the Jeanne DArc Stakes, a four and one-half furlongs event, to. be run Wednesday, May 5. Dixiana heads the list of nominators for the event, having named four youngsters, while Alvin Untermyer has entered three and Wheatley Stable, L. C. Young, C. V. Whitney, Jack Whyte, R. W. Collins and Connie Smythe have nominated two. each. KING PHILIP HANDICAP. The King Phillip Handicap, 55,000 added, to be run Saturday, May 8, over the mile and cne-sixteenth route, has drawn a strong field of twenty-seven high-ranking thoroughbreds. C. V. Whitney holds a powerful hand, with Piccolo, Post Meridian and Roustabout named, while J. Freedman has nominated Dark Conquest, Singers Folly and Wise Player. Others listed for the King Phillip are Townsend Martins White Cockade, Araho Stables Jackie D., Mucho Gusto and New Deal, Phil Bieber"s Chancing, Mrs. A. M. Creechs Sound Advice, Marshall Fields Swahili, Mrs. M. Cassidys Bill Farnsworth and Mrs. M. C. Breens Don Guzman. Thirty-eight three-year-olds have been nominated for the Providence Handicap, a mile and a sixteenth affair, to be run on Wednesday, May 22. The Belair Stud has nominated four, Dixiana will depend on Crows Flight and Good Catch, Brookmeade Stable has nominated Drudgery, Willis Sharpe Kilmer has nominated Beau Phae-ona, Teddy Beau and Teddy Patic, and C. V. Whitney has Post Meridian and White Sand eligible. The other eligibles, including W. H. Gallaghers Rudie, are Cardinalis, Swahili, Mrs. W. P. Stewarts Buttermilk, and Wheatley Stables Melodist. Included in the twenty-one nominations for the 55,000 added Governors Handicap, to be run over a mile and a furlong on Saturday, May 15, are four of C. V. Whitneys, namely Piccolo, Post Meridian, Red Rain and Roustabout; W. J. Hirschs sensational , filly Columbiana, Phil Biebers Chancing, Paul A. Shaws Gov. Sholtz, and Mrs. V. Wyses Eastport, winner of the Arkansas Derby. Twenty-two fleet three-year-old fillies have been nominated for the Betsy Williams, a mile and seventy yards stake, on 1 Wednesday, May 19. The list includes Belair Studs Lucky Pledge, Dixianas Drowsy and Shootin High, Wheatley Stables Devils Pace and Drawbridge, C. V. Whitneys Peplum and White Sand, and Clyde Van Duscns Torch Rose. I
