t KEENELAND PARK NOTES and Joe Cowley was thrown from Big Boy Blue in the paddock before the first race and suffered a bruised knee. He was compelled to cancel all his mounts. F. A. Smith was substituted for him on Big Boy Blue. Henry McDaniel, who trains for the Star-mount Stable, came down from New York for a visit of several days. He is the guest of J. Cal Milam, who sold Exterminator to Willis Sharpe Kilmer when McDaniel was training for that sportsman. Miss Mollie CoIIum, prominent Pittsburgh devotee, is the guest at Idle Hour Farm until after the Kentucky Derby running. Manhasset Stables White Tie, trained by John M. Gaver, being prepped for the Kentucky Derby and Blue Grass Stakes, was put through a session of schooling Thursday morning. The three-year-old son of High Time behaved very badly when on the track three days ago. Bob Hutton, Cincinnati boy under contract to C. N. Finch, has favorably impressed quite a few of the horsemen here with his work in the saddle. Hutton rode his first winning race at Oaklawn last month. The New Orleans owned Southland Stable of Charles Bacharach here in charge of Cliff Porter includes seven juveniles, five three-year-olds and the four-year-old Ceiling. The three-year-olds are Above Par, Gumption, Lucky Ducky, Hook It and Real One, while the younger members of the establishment are Pendant, Pegging Away, Pin, Money, Young Playtime, Real Play, Playki and Time to Play. The latter four were sired by Playtime, which performed with credit under the Bacharach silks before being retired to the stud. Patrona, a scheduled starter in the first race here Friday, is a daughter of Chicle Manta, the latter a sterling performer under the silks of Brownell Combs, local breeder and owner, whose Myrtlewood long will be remembered for her brilliant accomplishments on the turf. Besides Lady Myrtle, the stables first winner here, the Woodvale Farm establishment of Mrs. Roy G. Martin includes nine other two-year-old fillies. They are Jacqueline M., Miss Dobo, Mary Stoll, Beguiling, Irish Moon, Bess B., Lady Charlotte, Miss Salute and Royce Lake. Stephen Judge is the trainer.
