1 BOWIE TURF NOTES f S : ; $ Mr. John Bosley, Jr., who is training Mrs. T. W. Durants Kentucky Derby candidate, Red Jack, plans to start the son of Bud Lerner within a few days. Mrs. Durant arrived Thursday from New York to await the starting of her colt. George Burke, agent for "Sonny" Workr man, stopped off in Florida en route from California. Says the Washington lads riding this year has been pleasing to Alf Vanderbilt, who holds the boys contract. Joe Stevens, representing the H. M. Stevens organization, acted as host at a buffet lunch served to the turf writers following the release of the entries for the opening day. Trainer R. E. Potts has thirty-three horses in training for the Bomar Stable. Twenty are stabled here and the others at Pimlico, where they wintered. Potts said that owners C. Bohn and P. A. Markey are due from Detroit next week to witness some of the horses race. Sixty-three brood mares owned by Alfred G. Vanderbilt are located in Green Springs Valley. Eighteen foals have arrived to date. The pick of the arrivals are by Display and a filly by Sickle Pansy Walker. Some of the mares were shipped to Kentucky to be mated with Equipoise. Jockey R. Workman is here with the A. G. Vanderbilt stable and will ride on opening day.
