GOOD KEENELAND WORKOUTS Preeminent, Bourbon King and Old Nassau Among Horses in Trials at Lexington Track. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 4 With the Keeneland racing strip in lightning fast condition and rain threatening, horsemen moved their charges along at fast clips this morning. Hal Price Headleys Preeminent, one of the nineteen eligibles for the ,500 added Phoenix Handicap, opening day feature, gave a splendid exhibition of his speed when he ran six furlongs in 1:14, breezing. He was full of run from the start. Bourbon King, which disappointed in the Louisiana Derby after finishing a close up second to Lawrin in the Flamingo Stakes, had his first work since arriving here. The Kentucky Derby eligible breezed six furlongs in 1:16. The son of Whichone is not eligible to the Blue Grass Stakes, main attraction of the eleven-day meeting, which starts Thursday, April 14. Old Nassau, from the same barn and named for the Ben Ali Handicap, as well as the stakes to be offered for older horses at Churchill Downs, went a mile in 1:41, handily. Topped by Main Man, the J. B. Respess stable, comprising twelve head, reached here from Hot Springs this morning. Johnny Mc-Shane, with four horses, and C. W. Tague, with five head, also arrived from the Vapor City.
