j P0MP00N ARRIVES AT i j PUBLICO FROM COAST J BALTIMORE, Md., April 4. J. H. Louch-heims Pompoon returned to Pimlico today scene of his greatest race as a three-year-old, when he lost to the mighty War Admiral by a scant half length in the Preakness last May. The four-year-old colt by Pompey and Conagh arrived from California in company with seven other horses under the watchful eye of Johnny Loftus. J. H. Louchheim and Henry Horkheimer were at the track to greet Pompoon and to receive the happy news that the colt had shipped well and soundly. Pompoon, an eligible for the 0,000 added Dixie Handicap to be decided at Pimlico Wednesday, May 11, lends greater significance to the 65-year-old Maryland Jockey Club Stakes, as J. A. Manfusos Aneroid another ranking eligible, has been at the Old Hill Top plant for several weeks. Pompoon was assigned 118 pounds in the Dixie, and the handicapper gave Aneroid 120 pounds. The latter has been working regularly and will be handled to bring him to the peak of condition for the Dixie. Pompoons owners announced this morning that their colt would also be quartered and trained at Pimlico with no other race in iview except the Dixie Handicap.
