FELLER SETS STRIKEOUT MARK CLEVELAND, Ohio, Oct. 4. Although the Cleveland Indians lost a double header to the Detroit Tigers, 4 to 1, and 10 to 8, Bob Feller, Indian speedball pitcher, set a new major league strikeout record in the opener, fanning eighteen Tigers. In 1936, against the Athletics, Feller struck out seventeen to set a new American League record and equal the major league mark then held by "Dizzy" Dean.
