INAUGURAL AT LONG BRANCH Final Seven Days of Racing on Major Tracks of Ontario. Mrs. Orpens Cup and Saucer, ,000 Added Feature fcr Juveniles Foaled in the Dominion. TORONTO, Ont., Oct. 4. Racing on the major tracks of Ontario enters its final seven days with the opening of the Long-Branch Jockey Club meeting this afternoon. All of the horses which took part in the successful Woodbine meeting are on hand for the session at the Lake Shore course. Racing secretary P. C. Galliger has arranged a condition book for the sport unsurpassed by any association this year. The Mrs. Orpens Cup and Saucer, with the value of ,000 added, for juveniles foaled in the Dominion, is the outstanding prize and will be run on the final day of the meeting, Wednesday, October 12, at one mile and seventy yards. This event, which had its inaugural running last season, will bring together the best in training and there are thirty-one eligibles from which an outstanding field should face the starter. CHAMPIONSHIP PURSE. . The Long Branch Championship Purse of ,C0O added, to be run on Monday, October 10, the Canadian Thanksgiving Day, is also an outstanding event. This race, arranged for three-year-olds foaled in Canada, at one mile and a sixteenth, will bring together the .best in the Dominion and has thirteen nominations, from which a good field should result. This event will bring together W. F. Morrisseys Bunty Lawless and the Cosgrave Stables Mona Bell,, which raced sensa-: tionally in the running of the Breeders Stakes. " The officials of the meeting are unchanged from last season, with presiding steward P. C. Galliger, honorary steward C. H. Kemp, associate stewards, R. W. Hewitson and J. H. Evans; judges, P. E. Callen, Edwin Allen and A. Simms; racing secretary, P. C. Galliger; clerk of the scales, A. Simms; paddock and patrol judge, W. G. Kelly; starter, Thomas Clarke; directors, Fred S. Orpen, C. H. Kemp and G. W. Hay. The first race on opening day will be at 2:00 p. m., while on days -when hurdle events are run it will be 1:30 p. m. The "Daily Double" will be held as usual oh the first and second regular events. Tickets on the "field" and "entries" will be included as one.
