HASTY ROSE, in the thick of contention throughout, was in close quarters after leaving the back stretch, gained a slight lead in the stretch and, under punishment through the stretch, outlasted WILLOW PLUME at the end. KAMPORT moved up gradually in the run through the back stretch, came to the outside for the closing test and was along in the closing stride to wear down WILLOW PLUME. The latter, prominent all the way, fought it out gamely, suffered some interference at the stretch and, despite holding on well, just failed to last for second place. SCOTCH JUDGE worked his way up gradually and finished with good energy. ALTHORP PARK displayed good speed and fought it out for the early lead, tiring through the last throe-sixteenths. BOSTON LAD raced well placed for the opening three-eighths, then faltered steadily thereafter. CANTAMORE had speed. ARROW SONG was never prominent. TEETER TOTTER had speed from the start, drew clear in the first quarter mile and, rated along in front, was never seriously threatened. LIKEWISE moved up gradually on the inside and closed with good energy. ALERGY was well placed all the way and was unable to reach the first two, but, responding gamely to pressure, outlasted PRIPO at the end. The latter, outpaced for the first three-eighths, closed a good, gap thereafter. SIR MICHAEL was well placed and slightly restrained, made a determined bid to reach the pacemakers, but was not good enough, faltering through the closing three-sixteenths. HILDEGARD, devoid of early speed, came stoutly when too late. ROMNEY ROYAL had brief early speed. HARVEY G, O. moved up fast when leaving the back stretch, responded gamely to pressure and, drawing on oven terms with BABY SWEEP when reaching the stretch, held the latter safe to the end. BABY SWEEP displayed good speed, disposed of NELLIE Mc and, while fighting it out courageously, was not quite good enough. WULFSTAN continued gamely to the close, but was unable to threaten the first two. NELLIE Mc had good early speed, faltering after three-eighths. GOOD OMEN was unable to keep pace after the opening quarter mile. CEILING was well placed early, but was being eased up and broke down badly just after passing the finish. MOBCAP displayed good speed, disposed of SUN MICA for the lead and, surrendering command to CHAUVIN, came again to wear down the latter, but was unable to cope with the winners bid. CHAUVIN trailed his company into the back stretch, moved up fast on the outside nearing the far turn and took command under punishment, only to tire during the last twenty yards. SUN MICA displayed good speed in pacemaking, then faltered in the last five-sixteenths mile. KHAY moved up stoutly nearing the far turn, only to falter steadily in the last three-eighths. REBUTTAL, outrun early and far back until nearing the far turn, began to work his way to the leaders, wore down VITOX when reaching the stretch, but had to be hard ridden at the end to last long enough. VITOX displayed speed from the start, disposed of EBONISTE, surrendered the lead to COMBATANT, moved up to gain command and fought it out stubbornly, despite being in close quarters through the last sixteenth. COMBATANT lacked his usual early speed and was unable to gain command until nearing the half-mile post, drew clear and tired in the last quarter mile. CRAP SHOOTER raced prominently placed all the way and, while unable to seriously endanger the winner, held on stubbornly to the close. THE WINK, steadied along back of the pace, moved up gradually while going wide and continued with good energy to the close. MOUNT ECHO, outpaced early, closed some ground. UNLAWFUL impeded FIDELIS sharply in the opening eighth, was not hurried during the early running, began improving his position in the last quarter and, coming to the outside, when reaching the stretch, wore down SEA DOVE to draw out steadily in the last sixteenth. SEA DOVE, in closest pursuit of the pace established by HIGH IMAGE, disposed of the latter for the command, only to tire through the closing sixteenth. CLEAN HEELS was well placed throughout, continued determinedly to the close, but was unable to endanger the first two. MONTMARY made up some ground. HI-VIC had speed for the first half mile. HIGH IMAGE quit badly after going three-quarters. FIDELIS suffered sharp interference in the first eighth and, knocked back to last place, was unable to recover.
