CHALLEDON EARLY PIMUCO FUTURITY FAVORITE 0,000 Juvenile Fixture Headliner of Saturdays Maryland Program Big Hurry, Felsun, Third Degree, Nitro, Impound, Gilded Knight, Olney and Giles County Among Probable Opponents of Brann Youngster PIMLICO, Md., Nov. 9. Challedon, owned by W. L. Brann of Frederick, Md., and winner of the New England Futurity, is the early favorite to capture the sixteenth running of the 0,000 added Pimlico Futurity on Saturday. The two-year-old hay son of Challenger II. and Laura Girl, has trained perfectly for the race. Both trainer Louis Schaefer and George Seabo, who will ride the colt, are confident he will be hard to whip regardless of track conditions. In addition to Challedon, other likely starters in Saturdays mile and one-sixteenth feature are: Edward Riley Bradleys Big Hurry, winner of the Selima Stakes at Laurel; Foxcatcher Farms Felsun; Greentree Stables Third Degree; Harry Guggenheims Nitro; Milky Way Farms Giles County; Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilts Impound; R. W. Mcllvains Olney, and the Wheatley Stables Gilded Knight. General manager Matthias L. Daiger of the Maryland Jockey Club, is arranging to play host to a crowd of between 25,000 and 30,000 this weekend. Pari-mutuel manager Mortimer M. Mahony stated today that he would have wagering booths open in the clubhouse, paddock and in the three rings beneath the grandstand. There will be no advance booths open for the Futurity, as Mahonys .crew of 400 men will be capable of handling all wagers at the scheduled time. RALPH ECCARD RETURNING. Ralph Eccard, Chewsville, Md., lad, who won the Riggs with Aneroid, is returning from Narragansett Park, to ride the same thoroughbred in the 0,000 Bowie Handicap, Tuesdays mile and five-eighths feature. Eccard rode two winners yesterday at Narragansett. He will ply his trade during Bowies thirteen-day meeting, beginning November 16, according to agent Henry Erick-son. Theodore E. Mueller, former member of the Kentucky Racing Commission, and trainer George Brooks, arrived from Louisville, Ky., to attend the sales now being held in this sector. Jockey Eddie Tucker packed his tack and departed for California. Frank Ray purchased Shasta Lad at private terms from Mrs. T. Stevenson. The latters string, including Tempestuous, will be shipped to winter quarters at Oakville, Ont., at the conclusion of this meeting. Jockeys Bobby Merritt and Joe Wagner, trainers Morris H. Dixon and Jack Skinner, all returned from Tuesdays racing at the United Hunts course in New York. SHERELL WARD IMPROVES. Trainer Sherrill Ward, who recently underwent an operation in a Baltimore Hospital, paid his first visit to the track. He plans to leave shortly for the winters racing in Florida. Mrs. Emil Denemark of Chicago shipped nine of the horses she has been racing here to California. Al J. Joyner, Americas oldest active trainer, was a visitor. He will winter the George D. Widener horses at Erdenheim Farm, Pennsylvania. There have been ten claims at the meeting, with the sum of 3,000 figuring in the transactions.
