KNICKERBOCKER, away clear and fast, outran his field to the first turn, opened up a long lead atter going three-quarters, tired after reaching the stretch and had to be punished to withstand WINNING JVlArUv. The latter very slow to get going and a trailer for three-quarters, weaved between horses and came with a tremendous rush in the final drive. SHAMBLES, also slow to settle in stride, worked her way forward while saving ground and came stoutly in the closing drive. GAONA raced forwardly and in spots. TOPEE was prominent, but could not stay. MANYMOR was used up getting into contention. SUNSHAFT raced very jivide. REPELLER was held safe. ELLIE could not threaten. BLAZEAROUND raced in dull fashion. BLUE TINTS quit badly, as did REDFOOT. . TZIGANE was used up racing with CASTABOUT and tired. TULEYRIES LIN was ridden hard and had no excuses. FREE RIDE could not engage the leaders. CHASTE was held safe. BROKEN RHYTHM tired. GRIDINE, racing forwardly in the early stages, responded willingly when put to a drive, swung to the outside of DOUBT NOT when straightened into the stretch and finished determinedly to get up in the last few strides. DOUBT NOT was rated close to MARRIAGE, moved to the front when reaching the stretch and fought it out strongly when forced to a hard drive. WAR DOG could not untrack himself in the early racing and was placed to punishment, then closed full of run. MARRIAGE had good speed while setting the pace, but failed to hold on when challenged. JOHNS HEIR was hard ridden and raced well. TIME PLEASE was rushed into a contending position, but was unable to stay. OUR MAT raced evenly. SUN PLUME could not reach contention. HIGH VELOCITY, going in his best form, was hurried into a contending position early, raced to the loaders readily after being steadied off the pace, moved to the front on the stretch turn and was urged lightly to stall off ROBERT L. The latter gained steadily in the last half mile, made a wide turn into, the stretch and finished courageously under punishment. TEMPESTUOUS met strong opposition from YOUR BUDDY in the first seven eighths, then tired when the real test came. YOUR BUDDY forced a steady pace, but tired, after seven-eighths. GERALD failed to improve his position w.hile saving ground. UNEASY was always held safe. WHITE SAND raced wide and lacked her usual belated rush. MASTER LAD saved much ground,; but was not dangerous. HEAD HUNTER, rated off the early pace, saved ground in the last five-sixteenths and finished stoutly, BABY TALK raced well. SEVENTH INNING, prominent for seven-eighths, tired when shaken up.
