TWO GREAT GAMES SATURDAY Notre Dame-Minnesota, Michigan-Northwestern Outstanding Events of Coming Week-End. The two outstanding football games of the middle-west next Saturday are the Minne-sota-Notre Dame clash at South Bend and the battle of Northwestern and Michigan at Ann Arbor. The Notre Dame stadium is sold out for the Minnesota game and undoubtedly a capacity crowd will see the Michigan game. Notre Dame is one of the few unbeaten and untied teams in the country and according to the Associated Press poll of newspaper writers stands second among the nations teams, only Texas Christian being rated ahead and only four points to the good. There is no doubt that Notre Dame has the best team since Elmer Layden took charge and may go through the season unbeaten, though it has besides Minnesota Saturday, Northwestern and Southern California to meet on succeeding week-ends. A clean sweep will give the Irish the undisputed National championship. Minnesota undoubtedly will strive to avenge last years defeat by the Irish at Minneapolis. Minnesota had a big powerful team and is always dangerous. Saturdays game should .be a real battle and a great spectacle for the 56,000 that will be present to see it. Michigan has a wonderful team with only one defeat to mar its record, the 7 to 6 overthrow at the hands of Minnesota. Northwestern fell a victim to the prowess of Wisconsin last Saturday after scoring a close and notable triumph over Minnesota the previous week-end. Both are fast-teams and each, has a splendid line, so it should be another great game.
