LATEST NEW YORK BOXING COMMISSION RULINGS $ 1 NEW YORK, N. Y., Nov. 9. The New -York Boxing Commission yesterday announced definitely that the Fred Apostoli-Young Corbett fifteen-round fight at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 18, would be recognized as for the worlds welterweight championship, and at the same time launched plans for crowning a successor to John Henry Lewis as lightweight titleholder. In an attempt to clear up the middleweight muddle, the commission instructed promoter Mike Jacobs to withhold ,000 from the j purse of the Apostoli-Corbett match winner, who will be paired with Solly Krieger in a defense bout not later than January 30, if J Krieger will accept the match. The cora-1 mission announced that Krieger would be , given until Nov. 22, to accept or reject the proposal designed to establish a bona-fide 1 160-pound titleholder. If Krieger refuses to accept the proposed match either Apostoli or Corbett will be recognized, and the New Yorker, who recently beat Al Hostak, generally recognized as titleholder, will be shunted aside. Hymie Caplin, Kriegers manager, said he is undecided on the pro- posal. A successor to Lewis as light heavyweight champion will be decided among Al Gainer of New Haven, Tiger Jack Fox of Seattle and Melio Bettina of New York. .Gainer and Fox will meet, in a fifteen-jrqunder and the survivor will take on Bettina in a bout for the title. relinquished by Lewis, who has moved in .among the heavy-weights, and will meet champion Joe Louis early next year.
