Won driving; second and third the same. - GOLDEN FATE was quickest to begin, was under slight restraint early, disposed of ORPHAN LASS and, meeting determined opposition from FAST EXPRESS the entire last quarter mile, held him safe to the end. FAST EXPRESS, away well but unable to keep pace, early, moved up stoutly on the outside, got to the front in the stretch, but hung in the closing strides. LEO D. was hard hustled from the start, raced forwardly placed throughout and held on with good energy to the close. STORY TIME worked her way up gradually and, while closing gamely, was unable to threaten the leaders. FUMBLE was closer up than usual early, but was unable to make up any ground under punishment. GRAND LIGHT raced, along in nearest chase, of the pace from almost the beginning and held on with" good "energy to the close, although gaining ground steadily through the last three-sixteenths. W.ULFSTAN was well placed from the. start, but was unable to gain any ground during the final drive. LEGERDEMAIN was unable to reach the leaders. WAXWING, in nearest chase of the pace established by PANIC RELIEF, regained a slight lead when the pacemaker began tiring and, despite fighting it out stubbornly, was not good enough. NOTICE ME, closer up than usual during the early running, failed to close with his usual stretch bid. PANIC RELIEF displayed good speed in pacemaking, then faltered through the last three-sixteenths. TRAGGAT was steadied along back of the pace established by SUN WAY, wore down the latter after leaving the back stretch, opened up a good lead, but raced extremely wide on the stretch turn and soon straightened out to hold sway to the close. LE MISERABLE suffered sharp interference in the run to the first turn, moved up steadily on the outside through the back stretch, saved considerable ground on the stretch turn, but was not good enough for the winner in the closing test. DAMICA, slightly reserved until the last quarter mile, came willingly through the stretch run. SUN WAY displayed good speed in pacemaking, then faltered during the last five-sixteenths. EVEN UP closed a big gap after trailing early., LADY DEMOCRAT was not persevered with when she began tiring. ERNIE MANZER was unable to reach the leaders. MATCH POINT was devoid of speed, racing far back the entire trip. CLODION was unable to keep pace early, began giving improved speed in the last five-sixteenths, moved up stoutly on the inside of the winner when reaching the stretch and fought it out stubbornly to the close. WOODSAW was prominent from the start and only tired during the last sixteenth. WISE PRINCE trailed his field until the last quarter mile and, while making up ground through the stretch, was unable to threaten the leaders. BACHELOR DINNER was hard ridden while showing the way and faltered through the closing three-sixteenths. CLOCKS was pinched back nearing the far turn, was taken to the outside and lost much ground the remainder of the trip. SUN CAPTURE raced to the front at once, was rated along under slight restraint, met determined opposition from SCOTCH HIGH and, while holding the latter safe, was unable to cope with the stretch challenge of the winner. SCOTCH HIGH moved up on the inside leaving the back stretch, made several bids to overtake the winner and tired during the last eighth. CONRAD MANN closed some ground.
