BOWIE TURF NOTES f and e Jockey Ronald Nash, under contract to A. J. Halliwell and the leading rider at the recent meeting at Narragansett Park, cepted his first mount of the meeting when he rode Passing Eve in the second race Tuesday. Mrs. William Zakoor was released from Womens Hospital in Baltimore, where she underwent a serious operation some time ago. J. Arthur, who brought his stable from Narragansett Park, left two horses in Maryland to finish out the meeting at Bowie and directed the shipment of seven others to Charles Town, W. Va., to await the opening there. Jockey E. LeBlanc departed for New Orleans to ride throughout the season in Louisiana. The trials of the yearlings at Glen Riddle Farm in Berlin, Md., which were scheduled Sunday, were postponed, owing to condition of the training track which was unfit, due to week-end rains. The trials will be held at the first opportunity. H. Florentine brought the plater More Poise and Squabble from Narragansett Park and they will be raced here during the balance of the meeting. Steeplechase jockey F. McKay, who acquired the two-year-old Saving Grace during the meeting at Laurel, staged that he will turn the filly out in Virginia during the winter months. William Shewbridge stated that there are over 2,100 horses quartered in Maryland at the present time, with the largest share under shelter at Bowie. The overflow is being cared for at Pimlico, Laurel and Ti-monium. Mrs. W. Robinson brought the useful plater Patient Saint here from New England I and intends to remain for the meeting at Charles Town after the close of the Maryland season. Joe Stevens, Jr., returned from New York and reported that his father has fully recovered from his recent illness. Walter A. Carter stated that his good distance performer Clodion is being kept on edge for the T. K. Lynch Memorial. The thoroughbred contingent was swelled by the arrival of the Marshall Smith stable from New England. The shipment was headed by the plater Continuity. Another stable arriving was that of L. H. Smith, with Little Tarzan and Fancy Sonya. Jockey R. Johnson checked in from. New England and will ride during the remainder of the meeting. . .4
