1 TROPICAL PARK TURF NOTES S : The Jerry McCarthy Stables, Inc., just arrived from New Orleans with fourteen head, which will be raced at the Tropical Park meeting. Dr. J. B. Catlett, head of the Florida commissions saliva test unit and his staff are rapidly completing the dossiers of all horses stabled at Tropical Park and Hialeah Park, paving the way for the new protective measures to be taken to guard against "ringers" and tampering with horses. George Wallace, hailed as one of the better apprentices developed in the midwest last summer and fall, will be here to ride at Tropical Park. He is under contract to C. Hyde Smith. Leo Echle, veteran mutuels executive, returned to Miami after a brief visit to Havana. He will be mutuels manager at Oriental Park this winter. Paul Hirtenstein, turf writer of the Chicago Daily News, arrived from New Orleans and will remain in Miami to cover the Tropical and Liialeah meetings. George Tappen, assistant trainer to James Fitzsimmons, will winter in Miami, caring for the large division being campaigned here by the leading New York public trainer. 4
