Anderson left for Lexington, Ky., to pick up four horses that he will transfer to Gulfstream Park for campaigning when the new Florida track gets under way. Word has been received that Ed Crump, Memphis political chieftain, will head a delegation of Memphis sports fans to New Orleans next week, and a race will be named in his honor at the Fair Grounds during his stay in the Crescent City. The plater Lowry, which has been on the stewards list for the past two weeks because of his refusal to break from the starting gate and his tendency to sulk, has been restored to good standing and the entry of the racer is now acceptable. Eleven horses were loaded for shipment to Oriental Park Saturday morning at the Fair Grounds. The consignment, a mixed car, included two horses for J. L. Hogan, three for Edward Babcock, two for J. A. Hall, three for P. J. Van and one for F. Hausman. M. J. Reed, owner of a modest stable of thoroughbreds quartered at the Fair Grounds under the supervision of Rollie Bridwell, is due to visit in New Orleans shortly after Christmas. He will remain for an indefinite period. Cooper Phelps, Jr., who has been attending school in Dallas, Texas, came from the Lone Star State to spend the Christmas holidays with his parents.
