t TROPICAL PARK TURF NOTES J : A. G. Weston, dean of the Maryland racing colony, got in from Baltimore recently and will attend Tropical Parks opening races Monday. Johnny Brouse has leased the contract of apprentice Don Sena from J. Obrey for the winter season. Sena, a Revere Beach boy, registered his first victory at Suffolk Downs last July and has won eighteen races. He will ride at Tropical Park. Charley Rollins, veteran western jockey, has arrived in Miami and will be ready to ride at the Tropical Park meeting. His engagements are being made by the ebullient "Yum Yum" Dominick. The Florida State License Board State Steward Charles Gone, Tropical Steward Tom Thorp, Hialeah Steward Marshall Cassidy and Horsemens Representative James Fitz-simmons met at Tropical Park Friday to pass on licenses for trainers and jockeys. Jockey George South, pudgy lightweight from Kentucky, applied for a license at Tropical Park Saturday. He is a seasoned veteran of Florida racing. Tom Trulis, the track kitchen king, is catering to the victualling requirements of horsemen and stable folk at Tropical Park again this year. Trulis came here from Nar-ragansett Park. Jockey Don Meade, recently reinstated by the Florida commission, is expected to arrive in Miami from Columbia, S. C, on December 19. He has been galloping the George Odom horses at Columbia and likely will resume riding, after two years absence, at Tropical Park. Walter Winchell, famous columnist; J. Edgar Hoover, head G-man, and Dick Merrill, transatlantic flyer, will be opening day J guests at TropicaL Park on December 19. 1 Townsend B. Martin, Westbury, L. I., sportsman, and his brother, Bradley Martin, are expected to arrive from the North for the opening of Tropical Park next Monday, reports trainer Walter Burrows. Jockey Eddie Litzenberger, who has been out of the saddle for three years suffering from a broken leg that was rebroken twice, is back galloping horses and may be seen in silks at Tropical Park. George Phillips, trainer of the Maemere Farm, and W. B. Mitchell, returned from a successful hunting trip in the Florida Everglades. Oscar Bachman, mutuels representative for the Illinois State Racing Commission, was a Miami arrival for the opening at Tropical Park Monday. Charles "Trainer" Hughes, I official timer at Hialeah Park, also arrived. Walter H. Donovan, former secretary of the Florida State Racing Commission, returned from Miami to his home in St. Petersburg, Fla., after visiting Hialeah, Tropical and the new Hollywood tracks. Jockey Henri Mora, star of the last Florida campaign until injured in a fall, will be in silks during the coming Tropical meeting. He will ride here for Tommy Waller. Thirty-five horses were schooled at the barrier at Tropical Park Friday morning by starter G. R. Wingfield. Jockey Jack Richard, who will ride for the Oaktree Stable at Tropical Park, applied for a license here Friday.
