NORMAN W. CHURCHS STABLE Arrives at Santa Anita Park for Campaign During Arcadia Meeting Stalls Filling Up. ARCADIA, Calif., Dec. 27. The stable of Norman W. Church arrived today at Santa Anita Park, just about filling the stable area to capacity. The trade has a total of 1,906 stalls and an equine population of approximately 1,100 horses, the other stalls being required for tack rooms, grooms, stable ponies, etc. A few stalls remain empty, but these are reserved for Stagehand, Seabiscuit and a few other stars of the first magnitude expected to arrive within the next few weeks to fulfill their stakes engagements. Esposa the William Ziegler flyer, got in today from the East and Edward Friendlys great filly, Jacola, is due next week. The Church string, in charge of trainer "Woody" Fitzgerald, consisted of Lavengro, Sir Oracle, Fair Lead, Sweet Nancy, Plucky Flight, Patty Cake, Gallida and Playful Wink. Plucky Flight is a candidate for the 0,000 added Breeders Champion Stakes, which will headline the opening days card at Santa Anita a week from tomorrow. Plucky Flight is a son of Plucky Play, the former top flight "Handicap horse which is. standing at stud at Northway Ranch, near San Jose. Plucky Flight is one of the My Play horses first crop of foals. Other members of the Church string are being rested for the time being at Northway Stud, but are expected to be vanned late in January. There are several likely two-year-olds, some of which have never started. Sickness hit the Church stable hard last spring and a majority of the horses in training were set back several months. They are just now regaining racing trim after the long period of convalescence necessary to restore them to condition.
