THREATEN TO BLOW UP PLACE NEW YORK, N. Y., Dec. 27. An unidentified man strode into the Western Union office at 40 Broad Street in the heart of the financial district, threatened to "blow up the place" and escaped with, an undetermined amount of money. First reports were that the man reinforced his threat with a vial which he claimed contained nitroglycerine. The Western Union office is well below the traditional "dead line" set by the New York police department years ago. The "dead line" was to insure that known crooks were kept out of the Wall Street financial district and jewelry centers of nearby Maiden Lane.
