John H. Morris, the grand old man of Kentucky breeding and racing, will be honored at Keeneland Park tomorrow. The master of Bosque Bonita in Woodford county will present the owner of the winner of the John H. Morris Diamond Anniversary Handicap with a beautiful trophy. Now in his eighty-fourth year, Mr. Morris has witnessed racing for seventy-five years, first of which were quarter mile dashes over the meadows in Franklin county, Kentucky. Imported Leamington and Hindoo stood at Bosque Bonita and many great winners were foaled at his Woodford county nursery. In spite of heavy and steady rains this morning and a cold wind that also assured nothing but an adverse track for tomorrow, eight capable routers were named for the handicap with Shandon Farms Burning Star and Arabs Arrow under the top burden of 118 pounds each. BURNING STAR READY. Burning Star has been training in fine style over the Keeneland course and the son of Burning Blaze appears to have returned to the form that enabled him to the banner of P. A. and R. J. Nashs Shandon Farm and will have the services of Warren Yarberry. Arabs Arrow, one of the most consistent handicap performers of 1938 Kentucky racing and the pride of Mrs. Louise Jones Hickman, has received his preparation at Douglas Park in Louisville. Birthday, leading older performer of the well fortified Greentree Stable John M. Ga-ver has here, turned in several sparkling trials during the past ten days. Under 115 pounds and with Eddie Arcaro as his pilot, the son of St. Brideaux should be very troublesome, if not the winner. Winner of the 1938 Kentucky Oaks and St. Margarita Handicap, Flying Lee, Hal Price Headleys good home-bred filly, will tote 108 pounds. Valdina Farms will be represented by Diavolo Boy and Eagle Pass. The former will carry 112 pounds, and Eagle, Pass allot- Continued on thirty-second page. HONOR JOHN H.
