ROYAL CROSS, racing close to the Jpaders from the start, went through between the leaders in the stretch and, closing gamely under strong handling, was up to win inside, the final sixteenth. WAY OUT was a keen factor in the early stages, challenged repeatedly and fought it out resolutely. UNLIMITED, steadied close to the leaders, rallied when shaken up and was going gamely in the final drive. MASKED PLANE was prominent and showed a good performance. ROMNEY ROYAL was unable to get clear after moving to the front and tired in the drive. PADDYS SISTER could not improve her position. STATEMENT lacked speed after starting slowly. LYDE was held safe. JACK STING, permitted to settle into his best stride when outrun in the first half mile, moved up fast midway of the turn and, wearing down CURRANTS when straightened out into the stretch, drew away under urging. CURRANTS raced SHANTEB into defeat in the first half mile, saved ground, but could not stay with the winner when overtaken. SHANTEB was much the best of the others. FAIR ELISE overhauled tiring horses in the final three-sixteenths. BALKANESE was always held safe. WINNING STREAK had no mishaps. REIGH TETRARCH was outrun. CAIDON quit badly after half a mile. LITTLE DRIFT went for-wardly under pressure, went around the leader and tired after taking a short lead. DISSEMBLER was hard ridden throughout.
