DOWNY PILLOW, at home, in the going, sprinted into a big lead during the first quarter and, holding sway under light restraint, won easily. WELDING, hustled along from the start and racing greenly, bore out at the stretch turn, but came again, though failing to menace the winner. MAENERVA raced evenly and held on well. WISE GREENOCK was in close quarters soon after the start and made up ground when clear. BARTS MAYOR was slow to start, but finished fast. BELLE JAMES had no mishaps. MIMOSA was unable to keep up. SKATING FOOL, much the best and away well, was pinched back on the far turn, came fast when again in stride and, wearing down TOP QUEEN in the final sixteenth, won drawing away. TOP QUEEN, slow to get going, was inclined to bear to the inside when improving her position, went into command entering the stretch, but was unable to withstand the winner and tired near the end. SLAVE SONG, outrun early, was taken to the outside for the drive and closed with a rush. OURS, steadied along early, improved his position when ready, was carried wide by JOE BURMAN near the stretch and came fast after recovering. GREENY was in close quarters the greater part of the way. JOE BURMAN dropped back after starting fast and bore out near the stretch. TRA-LA-LA quit. GIN FRITTERS showed little. FLYING LILL, slow to get going and rushed to the front, took a clear lead after a quarter, but failed to withstand the winner. CHERRY JAM, a strong factor from the start, crossed over on SIR MARLBORO at the three-sixteenths post and got up for third. SIR MARLBORO was impeded by CHERRY JAM and tired thereafter.
