BOWIE TURF NOTES s $ Mortimer M. Mahoney, mutuel manager at Bowie, will leave for New England Monday to inspect the plant at Narragansett Park. He will return after a few days to make final arrangements for the meeting of the Maryland Jockey Club at Pimlico. Marshall Cassidy, steward of the New York State Racing Commission, departed after the final race at Bowie Friday for New York to be on hand for the opening of the Metropolitan season. Francis P. Dunne left for Jamaica where he will serve with the official family of the Metropolitan Jockey Club. With the departure of Jack B. Campbell for New York his position in the judges stand was taken by William Shewbridge. Condition books embracing the first six days of the meeting for the Maryland Jockey Club at Pimlico from May 1 to May 6 were released to horsemen by Edward J. Bren-nan, an official of the Maryland track. M. C. Shea and Wm. Shewbridge left early Saturday morning for Middleburg, Va., for the one-day hunt meeting. Bqth serve in official capacity and will return here later. Gilhaus, an official at Wheeling Downs, departed late Friday for that track to organize a crew to get the plant and racing strip into shape for the coming meeting.
