HASHS BRILLIANT WORKOUT Greentree Derby Candidate Works Three -Quarters in 1:13. Arrival of Scotch Trap Increases Derby Eligibles at Keeneland Track to Twenty-Seven. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 14. Hash, one of the five three-year-olds in the Greentree Stable, which was named for the Blue Grass stakes and Kentucky Derby, turned in the most brilliant trial of the local training season when he worked a mile after the eighth race at Keeneland Thursday in 1:39. Eddie Arcaro handled the son of Questionnaire and Delicacy. Displaying a high flight of early speed, Hash ran the quarter in :23, half mile in :47, and six furlongs in 1:13. The track was in good condition and, according to trainer John Gaver, Hash cooled out in fine style. With the arrival of G. W. Peaks Scotch Trap from Churchill Downs, the colony of Kentucky Derby eligibles quartered at Keeneland, the trotting track and nearby farms, now numbers twenty-seven. Keenelands opening day program added to the standing of several Derby eligibles and also showed that several are not of Derby timber. Easy Mon, one of the "two candidates in Warren Wrights Calumet Farm stable, turned in a splendid effort when he finished second to Torchy in the Phoenix Handicap, and Opelika made new friends by winning the maiden three-year-old race. Sports Writer turned in his best race of the year. Benefited by winter racing, Roll and Toss was an easy winner over Viscounty, in the Crestwood Purse, but the Valdina Farm eligible should improve off the effort. It was his first essay as a three-year-old and trainer J. J. Flanigan was very much impressed by the colts race.
