1 CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES I and ■ — s Fourteen horses that Otis Clelland has at Churchill Downs and Douglas Park for Mrs. R. J. Murphy, of Evansville, Ind., are destined to leave Louisville for Detroit on May 15 or soon thereafter, to be present for the inauguration of the summer meeting in the Motor City. J. R. Gregory has taken a five-year contract on Tulsa Green, 16-year-old lad, who hails from Vevy, Ind., and filed a copy of the agreement with the Kentucky racing commission. However, it will be another year before the youngster will sport the silks. Tommy Marshall, owner and trainer, who is without racing material at present, plans to get away for New England the latter part of this week, where he hopes to assemble a stable for racing during the summer. The two horses that Sam McPherson, Tennessee turfman, had at Douglas Park, have been transferred to Churchill Downs. They are the platers Chanting and Red Garter. Johnny Mocklin, youthful trainer and former jockey, who is directing the training of the thoroughbreds owned by Mrs. J. R. Collins, Detroit patron, will send his seven charges to the Motor City about May 18. William J. Shelley, who is serving as entry clerk and patrol judge at Churchill Downs, will be a member of the official personnel at North Randall. He will serve in the capacity of placing judge. The stable of thoroughbreds under the direction of former jockey Norman J. LeBlanc was increased over the week-end by the arrival of six horses at Douglas Park from Lexington. Plans have been completed by I. J. Killion to transfer the six horses that he has at Douglas Park to North Randall about May 15, to participate in the initial meeting for runners at the Cleveland track. William "Whitey" Ballinger stopped off at Churchill Downs Monday en route to Detroit from his home at Dallas, Texas. Ballinger has been connected with the Detroit Racing Association since 1933. For the first time, H. H. Temple, Jr., contemplates Invading Detroit with the public stable under his care. The only stable heading for Delaware Park is that of Gould Shaw, trained by Fisk -Waring and consisting of six head. Apprentice Arthur Page is to accompany the stable. Two horses belonging to Monte Weil and one the property of Mrs. Rose Sullivan go to Lincoln Fields in time for the opening of the Chicago season. Weil trains the horses. Hobbling about with the aid of crutches, jockey Charlie Landolt was a visitor at Churchill Downs Tuesday afternoon, but it will be at least a month before his injured ankle will be sufficiently mended to enable him to return to the saddle. A. G. Tarn claimed Whichaway out of thr seventh race Monday for ,200.
