FINELLA, at home in the going and hustled into a commanding lead during the opening quarter, was steadied along to the stretch and, racing next to the rail thereafter, held on under strong handling to outfinish EYE KNOCKER. The latter, taken off the pace when outrun, moved up rapidly when ready, but was weakly handled after offering a determined bid when inside the final sixteenth. SANTO DOMINGO dropped back after a fast beginning, came fast when settled into his best stride and held on well. IDEAL FUNGI saved ground and tired. LITTLE YVONNE had no mishaps. SPRINGMEYER, away fastest of all and reserved when challenged and, responding well when placed to strong handling, wore down BURNING WOOD to win drawing away. The latter, rushed into a long lead during the opening quarter, increased his advantage under steadying restraint, began to tire after reaching the stretch and gave way rapidly in the last stages. PRESUMPTION, fast to begin, but unable to keep up, improved, his position after a half mile and finished well. ELLEN BAKER, slow to get going, was rushed to the leaders after a quarter and tired. CHATMIN had no mishaps. HORACE B. made up ground. VENEER, a factor for a half mile, quit badly thereafter. BRILLIANT NELL raced greenly. SPEEDY SQUAW, slow to begin, was rushed to the leaders after a quarter and, benefited by bothering MANINTHEMOON and LITTLE JACK when steered between them entering the stretch, forged to the front approaching the final eighth and drew away to win under pressure. LADY JEAN, forced to lose ground when racing forwardly, went extremely wide entering the stretch, came again when straight and finished well. TRYSAK, outrun to the stretch, closed with a rush. LITTLE JACK, hustled along from the start, offered a bold bid ncaring the final quarter, was interfered with by the winner and tired thereafter. MANINTHEMOON, rushed to the front on the inside, was unable to draw clear and quit badly after meeting interference. PERFECT MAID quit. KATES KITTEN, well handled and taken in hand when outrun, moved forward after three-eighths, responded to strong urging when wearing down JOE BURMAN and won easily. The latter, hustled into a clear lead during the opening quarter, increased his advantage under light restraint, was put to strong urging when threatened, was unable to withstand the winner and tired rapidly in the last stages. SHADOWS PASS, pinched back after the start, lacked room for three-eighths, bore out after being taken to the outside for the drive and, coming fast when straight, closed resolutely. BILLABONG, fast to begin and a strong factor for a half mile, tired thereafter. LADY WO was unable to keep up. TRUE ENOUGH was done early. MISS SHIRLEY C. was outrun. BEL ESPOIR, never far back and under snug restraint for three-quarters, was brought to the outside in the final quarter, got up just inside the last eighth and drew out fast. RESPHA forced the pace under good restraint, took command when roused slightly after five-eighths, readily gave way to the winner and held on fairly well. MORNING MAIL, never a great distance back, was put to good pressure after three-quarters and held on fairly well in the drive. VERAKEE made the pace without the need of strong pressure, was vigorously handled after three-quarters and tired. BOBBRAX was outrun throughout.
