PLAYFIELDS. sent right along from the start, disposed of LADY INSCO, then drew out steadily in the last three sixteenths. MERRY MISTAKE, quickest to begin but unable to hold his advantage, dropped back in the first three-eighths, but closed stoutly in the stretch. LADY INSCO showed good early speed and, while making a game bid to go along with the winner when challenged, was not good enough, although continuing willingly to the end. MILK TOAST, slow to settle into his best stride and outrun early, closed a good gap. LOULANG went well placed throughout, but was unable to better her position when placed under pressure. CHRONOS went at an even pace throughout. GREEN HICKORY showed a flash of early speed. LA SCALA raced prominently from the start, took command after a brush with MASK AND WIG through the first quarter, then drew clear and, although bothered slightly by the riderless RISSA, was never seriously threatened. SUN GIRL, under pressure to hold to a prominent place early, closed willingly through the stretch and was along in the last stride to wear down KLEIG LIGHT. The latter raced in a forward position from the start and continued willingly to the close. BOW LOW, away slowly and far back for a half mile, closed a eood gap in the stretch. STRING MUSIC saved eround entering the stretch and finished willingly. PEANUT LADY failed to threaten. MASK AND WIG quit badly after surrendering the lead. RISSA lost her rider at the start. QUAROMA, permitted to settle into his best stride without being called upon and trailing his company until near ng the stretch, found clear sailing on the inside in the stretch and. finishing with a rush, was along in the last stride. NEDDIE BOY. reserved back of the pace, moved up willingly and. overtaking LIKE GREENOCK a few yards from the finish, just failed to hold the winner. LIKE GREENOCK, prominent throughout and drawing into a good load after having met repeated early bids, began tiring in the last twenty yards, -ilthoueh jut surrendering the lead in the closing strides. DIZZY B., forced to ease back on the tirt turn, made a mild bid leaving the back stretch and failed to close any eround thereafter. DRIVING POWER faltered under pressure in the bat quarter. BAR COPPER, forwardly placed from the beginning and lightiy reserved early, moved to the front in the stretch, then drew out in the closing eighth. TWO WAYS had speed from the start and. lighting it out couraeeously for the lead, held on willingly to the end. ZELLEEN ZEE worked her way torwardly in the last half mile and held on gamely in the stretch drive. ALIBI BABE closed ground steadily in the last quarter after having trailed. WITNESS STAND, hard ridden to get to the front and forced to meet stern opposition, tired in the last three-sixteenths, VAIN BEAUTY was outrun. GOLD TOWER, hard ridden although unable to engage the leaders in the first half, closed determinedly in the stretch run. ARGELLA, forced to ease back in the opening eighth, moved up nearing the stretch and closed going gamely. VALDINA JOE was unable to threaten the leaders. TYRONE, well placed and on the outside, dropped back nearing the stretch turn and failed to make up any ground through the stretch. SHANTYTOWN had brief early speed, tiring in the last quarter. HICOMB, displaying speed from the outset, disputed the command with WATCH OVER early, drew away into a commanding advantage, but was doing his utmost at the close to withstand the fast-closing SAMBOROMBON. The latter wanted for racing room early, moved up stoutly when gaining clear sailing and finished wearing down the winner at the close. ALLEGRO, slow to start and far back early, closed a good gap in the last five-sixteenths. WATCH OVER showed good early speed and was not persevered wtih when he began tiring and probably needed the race. STAR BOARDER was unable to reach the leaders. CHALLAMORE had brief earlv speed. WAR BONNET outran his field from the start, opened up a good lead and, rated alone under slight restraint, fouzht it out gamely when challenged, but was unable to stave off the bids of the first two. BREEZE raced forwardly, but failed to keep pace under pressure. OLD RIVER made up some ground. IDLE FANCIES, forwardly placed early, dropped back in the last half mile. STEEL KING took command at once, drew clear when reaching the back stretch and, rated along under slight restraint, responded gamely when placed to pressure and had enoueh in ieserve to withstand the fast-closing PRIORITY. The latter, well placed, finished gamely during the stretch run and was eainine steadily at the end. SICKLEBILL trailed his company early and closed an immense trap.
