Hicomb Ekes Out Neck Score Over Samborombon PAWTUCKET, R. I., April 30.— Hard put in the final strides, Mrs. R. Campbells Hicomb had enough left to eke out a neck victory over Beezley and Cohens heavily ■favored Samborombon in the South County Purse, a six-furlong event for older horses, on the grounds that topped the Narragan-sett Park program today. Four lengths j back in third place was A. S. Pierces Alle-1 gro, better than four lengths in front of Nimkoff and Stuarts Watch Over. The Hi-jack gelding took command rounding the first turn, extended himself I to a four-length lead over the field, with Samborombandn offering the only contention. The South American son of Fogon — Sifax made a determined bid midway in the stretch, but it was too late to overcome the leader. Allegro, held off the early pace, went into contention rounding the turn, and could finish no better than third. Timed in 1:12, Hicomb returned 5.90 for to his supporters.
