Simmons entry — Akrontown and General Sickle. * Simmons Duo of Akrontown And General Sickle Likely To Attract Most Attention LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 30.— The 41st running of the Bashford Manor stakes, an annual feature of the spring program at Churchill Downs, will headline a splendid Derby eve card here tomorrow afternoon. The five-furlong dash for two-year-old colts and geldings attracted a field of 11 and many of them are so evenly matched on their records that any one of several might rule the public choice. Allen T. Simmons of Akron, Ohio, is sending two youngsters after the prize. Of them, the fleet Akrontown, who won here a few days ago, will be coupled with General Sickle, for whom the stable also has high hopes. Other promising juveniles scheduled to take part in tomorrows fixture are John Marschs Hoosier, another winner since the Downs meeting began; Mr. and Mrs. T. D. Grimes Captain Zac, Carney fe Ramseys Navy Cross, Susan Kelloggs Take Away, G. T. Williams Armys Third and Mrs. August Swenkes Total Victory. No Milky Way Entry Each of these youngsters has much to recommend him, and which of them is the best will remain for the running of the Bashford Manor itself to determine. Unfortunately, this spring Mrs. Ethel V. Mars, whose colors have been seen in front in this stake three times in the last six years, will be without a representative tomorrow. She made a number of nominations for the Bashford Manor, but none of them are ready for such an exacting assignment at this time. Her three Bashford Manor winners were Black Raider, Sky Larking and Murph. The principal supporting feature on tomorrows card is the Kentucky Colonels Purse, a test of a mile and a sixteenth for older horses. Scheduled to meet here are Allessandro, War Bugle. Fairmond, Quarterback, Shortening and Century Note. Fairmond was third in the Clark Handicap after having paced the field for half the distance and may rule the favorite for tomorrows race.
