Paperboy, Bolingbroke To Go in Rhode Island Nick Wall Will Ride W-L Ranch Racer in Rich Gansett Stake PAWTUCKET, R. I., April 30.— Nick Wall, the rider who launched his career in New England and is now regarded as the nations greatest lightweight jockey, returns to his old hunting grounds Saturday. Nick is slated to ride W-L Ranchs Paperboy in the eighth renewal of the 0,000 added Rhode Island Handicap, Narragan-sett Parks week-end feature. The Papyrus gelding arrived today from New York to carry the silks of the California stable of movie moguls Harry Warner and Mervyn Le Roy in the mile and one-eighth fixture, under the supervision of trainer Darrell Cannon. Due in from New York tonight is Town-send B. Martins highly regarded Bolingbroke, also a definite starter in the weekend stake, which is the richest and most important event of this twenty-five-day spring meeting. In his only start this season, Paperboy was a close fourth in New York recently in a six-furlong sprint won by Bull Reigh. He obviously needed this race, and six furlongs is not regarded as his best leather. He won fame last season at Hollywood Park when he finished second to Big Pebble, 1941s champion older handicap horse in the Hol-llywood Gold Cup and was third to Staretor and Porters Cap in the 5,000 Hollywood Derby. He has been assigned 108 pounds in the Rhode Island. • Bolingbroke Lightly-Weighted Bolingbroke, toting 102 pounds, will be one of the extreme light weights in Saturdays feature. Coldstream Farms Tragic Ending, another who will be lightly weighted, attracted attention this morning during workout hours, when he worked a mile in 1:41%, handily. According to trainer Jack Howard, the Misstep colt, which is in at the feather of 100 pounds, usually refuses to work. The remarkable thing about todays trial is that he was hard held for six furlongs, which he covered in the slow time of 1:15%. Given his head in the final quarter, he fairly flew. He was then taken in hand again and galloped out the mile and an eighth distance of the Rhode Island in l:553/s, breezing. Glenn Felkners filly, Red Moon, which is expected to start in Saturdays stake, galloped a slow mile in 1:49, hard held all the way. B. A. Darios Blue Warrior, also due to accept the issue, breezed over six furlongs in l:152/5. after a half in :493s. It appeared today that a dozen or more horses would run in the Rhode Island over a fast track.
