Court of Thirty-Five Mares For Kenty, Standing on Coast J j . j • ■ i : 5 j J | j j J | I 1 * I . j j I Stallion, One of Four Sons Of Teddy in California, at Cells Rancho Oro Primero SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., May 14.— Ken- ty, one of four sons of Teddy standing in California at present, will serve no less than 35 mares this season, reports Bu- ford Butch White, ranch foreman and studmaster at Walter T. Wells Rancho Oro Primero, where the nine-year-old stallion is standing. Kenty will be mated with the majority of mares on the Wells ranch, but several other breeders have sent or will send matrons to his court. Deerwood Stock Farm, where stand Sweepster and Naishapur, have sent two mares to Kenty and he will also cover some of the stock of J. W. Mc- Clatchie, Chester Lauck and Fred Morris. The others Wells sires, the Chilean stal- lions Bonheur II. and Zuncho, will also be given a chance this year. They will be mated with a few home mares. The South Americans are seven-year-olds. Bonheur II. started twice in this country. He made his appearance on the turf last year and finished third in an allowance race. Zuncho won eight races in Chile. Home Mares in Kenty s Court Among the home mares to be served by Kenty are Gay Stella, a daughter of Gay Ronald; High Maria, by High Time — Dear Maria, by Ambassador IV.; Swift Rose, by Lord Swift — Rose Leaves, by Ballot; Chicsu, a daughter of Chicle; Fairy Lass, by Wise Counsellor — Retrograde, by Friar Rock; Mild, by King Gorin — Parley, by Under Fire; Saychick, a daughter of Chicle; Eliz- abeth W., by Upset — Starcadia, by Star Shoot; Minette, by Friar Rock — Clarissa Anne, by Sir Martin; Starry Leaves, by Fair Play — Carnation, by Rabelais; High Flight, by High Time — Flivver, by Jim Gaffney; Easy Sailing, by Happy Argo — Rough Sea, by Seasick; Sarah Carlaris. by Carlaris — Sarah Ginger, by Spanish Prince II.; San Green, a daughter of Fair Play; High Go, by High Time— Clarabel Atkin, by Cylba; Frisky Matron, by Bistouri — Suffrage, by Broomstick; Red Cross Sister, a daughter of Man o War; Wisecrack, by Vulcain — Quip, by Out of Reach; Nocreia, a daughter of El Cinco ,and Quakerstreet, by Chatterton — Blue Moss, by Wrack. Quakerstreet won the first running of the Gran Nacional Steeplechase at Caliente. Among the outside mares to be served by Kenty are the Papyrus mare, Paprice, dam of Paper Sun and Papenie, for Deer-wood Stock Farm; Ambleside, a daughter of Enoch; Playbrage, a daughter of Playtime, and another mare named Baby Stare for Chet Lauck; Western Waters, for Fred Morris and Fanny De Courcy, a daughter of Stockwell for J. W. McClatchie. Numerous Foals at Farm Bonheur II. is to cover My Dainty, by Porte Drapeau — Port-Hole, by Man o War; ] Emigrante, by Epinard — Annabell Lee, by J i Volta, and Barnby, a daughter of Golden J Sun, among others, for Wells, as well as j | Spinet, a daughter of Khalifa for Fred | Morris. Zuncho will be mated with Casa j i Manana, a daughter of Quatre Bras, and the maiden mare Trace Girl among others. Foals are numerous at Rancho Primero 1 j this year.
