, . | ; 1 1 Hysterical May Compete In Governors Handicap Connections Reported to Have Engaged Rider for Top Weight BOSTON, Mass., May 14. — The possibility that the sixth running of the Governors Handicap, ,000 added one-mile event which will feature the week-end card at Suffolk Downs, might exceed expectations, loomed today with the report that the Circle S Stables Hysterical, top weight of the field, might be shipped here, to fill his en-j gagement. "We have had no definite word about Hysterical, said Charles McLennan, racing secretary at the Boston track, "but we have had a report that the stable has engaged a rider -for him in the event that they ship him up." Five of the eligibles to the Governors were on the track this morning for preps designed to fit them for Saturdays headline event. Those who were given workouts included Mrs. Charles Nelsons Alaking, Mrs. H. T. Archibalds Boston Man, B. A. Dados Mas- ter Key, Alexander S. Pierces Allegro and A. G. Tarns Bulwark. E. C. Eastwoods Challamore also loomed as a possible starter after his work of five-eighths yesterday afternoon. The Challenger II. gelding clicked off the five pan-: els in 1:0325, being caught at the quarter in :242, and the half in :49*5. Alakings work this morning was over three-eighths of a mile, and the four-year-old son of Equipoise stepped off the distance, handily, in :38. Bulwark was also asked to go the same distance and accomplished the assignment in :3735, handily, but is regarded as a doubtful starter. Boston Man, for whom Georgie Seabo was engaged to ride earlier in the week, was brought up to his peak for Saturdays race, with a mile trial. The Bostonian colt clicked off that distance in 1:4335, negotiating the half in :49 and the six furlongs In lrlS1;;. Fred Preece sent Allegro out in company with the imported Irish horse, Ended, and the two worked the five-eighths asked of them in 1:02, handily, while moving along evenly throughout. Master Key was also asked to go the same distance and breezed in 1:04.
