STRAY CHORD, having good •arly speed, took command soon after the start, dropped back slightly rounding the second turn when she bore out, then came again entering the final turn to take the lead and finished strongly in the final drive. MI SECRET, well back early, closed steadily rounding the far turn and, under a drive, got up to get the place narrowly. SPEEDY VALLEY, well up from the beginning, forged to the front when the winner bore out and held on gamely to the last sixteenth, then tired. SWEET STORY closed some ground in the last eighth. DOGROSE showed speed for a quarter, then tired. WINKLE ran away for a mile before the race broke with the field, then pulled herself up. ELECTRIC FLAG, slow to settle Info stride, moved up swiftly on the outside afte"r reaching the far turn and, under a drive in the final tighth, lasted to win by a safe margin. AULD LANG SYNE, well back early, closed much ground in the last while saving ground and was closing strongly in the final drive. BABY GOLD, always within strik-lg iuarter distance of the pace, finished gamely in the stretch drive. MAGALOY trailed the field for a half mile, then, under a drive, closed a big gap in the final quarter. LORD PROSPECT showed good early speed, then tired. MISS VICTORY forged to the front after going a half mile and held on gamely to midway of the ttretch, then tired. VALDINA RIA showed in front to the back stretch, then gave way. COMMISSION, away on top, soon dropped back off the pace, came with a rush while saving ground rounding the final turn and, under mild pressure, closed strongly to win going away. SHIRLEY G., rushed into the lead going to the first turn, set the pace to the final eighth, then gave way when the winner challenged. DAVID B. JR., a forward factor in the early stages, raced up swiftly on the inside of the pacemaker entering the back stretch the last time around, held on gamely to the final drive, then tired. TWO PLY raced evenly, but was never able to threaten the leaders. MILLMORE forced the pace for the first half, then dropped well back. DARBY DALLAS raced wide on all the turns. HER REIGH forged to the front after going a sixteenth and, under a well rated ride, held his advantage to the last quarter, then, under urging, withstood a bold bid by ILLINOIS STAR to draw away in the final eighth, winning going away. WATERCURE, never far from the leaders, closed some ground while saving ground rounding the final turn and got up in the last stride to get the place narrowly. ILLINOIS STAR forced the pace for a half mile, then made a game hid midway of the back stretch, but was not good enough and just lasted in the final drive to "save the show. EMPORIUM raced in spots. MERRY SAXON was rushed into a long lead in the first quarter, set all her own pace and was forced to be shaken up near the end to hold the gamely closing PICK OUT. The latter, always within striking distance of the leaders, closed strongly rounding the final turn and was closing on the winner at the finish. TAKITFROME, very slow to settle into stride, closed steadily while saving ground in the final half mile and finished gamely. LILLIAN ROTH raced in spots, but was never a serious threat.
