WISE BARRISTER began slowly, worked way up on the extreme outside and, after taking command in the stretch, withstood a brisk drive to hold BRUTUS safe. The latter went to the front soon after the start, set the pace through the first half mile under occasional urging and held on well thereafter, but was not good enough for the winner. SYMPHON raced evenly to the final eighth, then faltered. TINDER GAL, in tight quarters and shuffled back soon after the start, passed tired horses in the stretch. STUART B. was unable to threaten and had no mishaps. FAST START was done earlv. LITTLE SARAH did not like the muddy track. Scratched— 18636 Unamim. SMOKIN OTT, well handled, improved position steadily to the stretch, came determinedly when hard urged in the drive and was up in the final sixteenth. TIP YOUR HAT worked his way up on the extreme outside, responded readily when called upon approaching the stretch and finished resolutely under punishment. HIT IT, much used engaging ROYAL CHIEF for three-eighths, faltered in the drive. EXCLAMATION broke well, but dropped far back in the first three-eighths, then came determinedly thereafter and closed fast. MIRROR LAKE, fractious at the post, could not threaten in the running. NEW BLEND raced evenly throughout and had no excuses. ROYAL CHIEF raced to the front early, set the pace to the stretch under pressure from HIT IT and bore out badly on the turn to lose all chance. SUNNY CRAIG had brief early speed. UNQUOTE took command soon after the start, shook off LITTLE KINGPIN after the first half and easily held her advantage to the close. COUNTERBALANCE, slow to start and far back until reachine the stretch, was steered to the outside and closed with a rush, but could not reach the winner. LINGER ON improved his position steadily through the first half, made a bold bid entering the stretch, then faltered. WISE FIRE saved ground while outrun to the final turn, but failed to respond when hard urged in the drive. LITTLE KINGPIN, much used forcing the pace to the stretch, had nothing left for the drive. AIR SPRITE was unable to threaten. HADATIME could not keep up. BEAD hatt speed to the stretch, then gave way suddenlv. HARKIM saved ground when outrun for three-eighths, responded readily when called upon and, after taking command, held FLASH TOWN safe without need of strong urging. FLASH TOWN went to the front soon after the start, held on well after giving way to the winner to easily best KOKOMO. The latter started slowly, worked way up on the inside and came determinedly when hard urged in the stretch, but could ont reach the leaders. TREEMONTIER, after showing brief early speed, tired. PIGEON GOLD, away poorly, worked way up steadily, but could not reach the leaders when hard urged in the drive. SUCCESS STORY, caught in the jam at the break, was never a factor. McGARVEY took command at once, bore out badly near the half-mile post, but did not relinquish the lead, came again when straightened and increased his advantaee in spite of swerving to the inside in the final eighth. HO DOWN raced in closest pursuit of McGARVEY throughout, came determinedly in the stretch and suffered some interference when the winner swerved to the inside near the eighth post, but could not threaten when clear. MILITARY GIRL raced evenly and had no excuses. WEARY FLOWER finished strongly after being far back to the mile. VILLA PLATTE tired after reaching a good positon in the stretch. MIGAL FAY, in hand until reaching the stretch, responded readily when roused and, after taking command, withstood a brisk drive to retain her advantage. FLY ME, in close quarters in the first half, improved position thereafter and finished determinedly on his own courage. DARBY DEEDEE, under light restraint to the final quarter, came to the outside for the drive and closed stoutly. CANTATA, never far back, went to the front near the stretch, but could not retain his advantage under strong handling. VOILEE II. tired after setting the pace for the first half.
