Illinois News and Notes SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, HI., May 15. C. V. Carr, part owner of the Lookout Stock Farm stable, arrived here from his home in Covington, Ky. Carr reports that they are planning on bringing the filly Lady Roulette here from the farm. G. E. Lewis, who trains the Lookout Stock Farm horses, will van the entire stable to Lincoln Fields the first of next week. Future Winning, the property of the partners, Caldwell and Burke, has been sent back to the farm, where he will be turned out for several weeks. Dr. H. N. Holmes reported to Lincoln Fields, where he has been appointed veterinarian to represent the Illinois Racing Board. Miss Sylvia Harris purchased the two horses Spanish Jewel and Di Vernon. Spanish Jewel was bought from Mrs. C. E. Dale, while Di Vernon was acquired from T. H. Cross, The horses will be trained by G. W. Dunn. Ralph Stubbs, who has been acting as a placing judge here during the illness of William J. Shelley, departs for Fairmount Park the early part of next week. Stubbs will join the mutuel crew at that track. Jockey G. Franklin departs for Toronto, Canada, on Monday, where he will report to his contract employer, M. G. Farns-worth. The Farnsworth horses were recently shipped to the Woodbine race track. James Clark, who will act as paddock judge at the Lincoln Fields meeting, arrived here from Louisville, Ky. Clark took in a few days racing at Sportsmans Park before reporting for duty. Jockey Eddie Franklin will leave for Omaha, Neb., where he will report to his contract employer, Lee Helton, whose horses are stabled at the Ak-Sar-Ben race track. Jockeys A. LoTurco, R. J. Jones and S. Freeman have made plans to depart for Fairmount Park, where they will ride free lance during that meeting. LINCOLN FIELDS, Crete, HI., May 15. The R C Stable, maintained by Walter H. Hoffman, Jr., will be represented at Lincoln Fields by twelve horses. The principal member of the stable is Royal Crusader, West Coast handicap star and recent winner of the Churchill Downs Handicap at Louisville. Paul Meredith trains the string. Don Jefferson is bringing ten horses here from Churchill Downs for William B. Simpson of Chicago. Heading the string are Genl Manager and Weigh Anchor, both of whom are expected to be active in the handicap division here. The attention of horsemen is called to the closing of entries Monday for the Harvey Handicap which will headline Wednesdays program at Lincoln Fields. The Harvey is a test of one mile for three-year-olds and upward. One of the largest stables to race here this season is that trained by Howard Wells. He is bringing in upward of twenty head. Jockey Arthur Craig will be with the stable. The remainder of the Woolford Farm Stable is due here momentarily from Louisville. One division already has been shipped here by trainer R. O. Higdon. J. J. Flanigan and his son, W. F. Flan-igan, have made reservations for six thoroughbreds they are bringing from Kentucky. The executive offices of the Lincoln Fields Jockey Club will be moved from the Drake Hotel to the track over the weekend. Samuel H. McMeekin, steward, is coming here over the week-end from Louisville. J. J. Greely, Sr., arrived from Kentucky with his public stable which includes Mrs. Evans Shot Put. ♦ FATHMOUNT- PARK, Collinsville, 111., May 15. Shipments of horses to Fairmount will start moving briskly this coming week-end with the close of both Churchill Downs and Sportsman Park. A number of stables which will race here will come from those points. J. P. Headley, Kentucky horseman, has been assigned stall room at Fairmount by racing secretary Leigh. Monte Parke, who trains the horses of Alfred McKnight, Texas patron, already is an arrival on the grounds.
