Historian Breezes Mile In Workout for La Salle Lost and Found, First Dust Also Get In Preps for Route Fixture HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., May 30.— The Woolford Farms Historian shared the spotlight here this morning as several candidates for Saturdays 0,000 LaSalle Handicap, scheduled for a mile and three-sixteenths, received their final conditioning jaunts over the fast racing strip. The smart gelded son of Lawrin — Mea, who finished third in a pair of sprints at this track, and who raced the sensational Armed to a head at Tropical Park, worked a mile in 1:45V5. breezing. He was held under strong restraint during the early part of the move, registering :52% for the half, and 1:19 for the three-quarters. Lost and Found, owned by L. D. Rosenthal, was another who wasnt asked for his best speed in a mile gallop, negotiating the distance in 1:48. The only other serious move recorded was accomplished by Mrs. E. Denemarks First Dust, who stepped three-quarters in 1:16%. Daily Trouble received his final conditioner yesterday when he finished second to the speedy Fighting Don in the fastest six and one-half furlong race of the season. He was going steadily at the finish and appeared to pull up well. Hail Victory, winner of the Clark Handicap at Churchill Downs, is something of a mystery horse for the race. The Calumet Farm recently arrived with him at Arlington Park under the care of Ben Jones, but no definite word has been received from the stable as to their plans in the La Salle. Challenge Me, who drew 126 pounds from racing secretary Larry Bogenschutz in his weight allotments, probably will not start in the fixture, which leaves Historian as the head man with 123 pounds. Daily Trouble, 120, and Hail Victory, 119, are the other highweights, who are most seriously regarded.
