Bill Proposes State Retain All Breakage for Five Months SPRINGFIELD, 111., May 30.— A bill introduced in the State Senate here yesterday by Senator William G. Knox, of Chicago, would permit the state to take all the "breakage" in the pari-mutuel pools at race tracks for a five -month period, the revenue therefrom to be used to defray preliminary expenses for the soldiers bonus. Knox estimated that with the state retaining the breakage from July 1 to November 5, 1946, from ,000,000 to ,500,000 in revenue would be raised. Pending bonus legislation sponsored by Gov. Dwight H. Green calling for an increase of the states "take" from 2 to 6 per cent, plus one-half the breakage and the reduction of the tracks share in the pools from 8 to 7 per cent.
