Limit Field to Contest Lincoln Feature Middle Distance Runners Compete Big Albert, Bodens Pal, Best Birthday to Clash in Lief Erickson Drive Purse HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., May 30.— The natural lulls that usually precede and follow a holiday will be in evidence here tomorrow when the Lincoln Fields Jockey Club offers an ordinary program of eight races as it prepares for Saturdays big program and attempts to recover from tht tremendous excitement that went with todays terrific crowd. While there is nothing on the program coming up that compares in any way with Saturdays 0,000 mile and one-sixteenth La Salle Handicap, there are some better-than-average platers listed to go in the various races, and in the sixth a good field of middle distance runners are expected to wage an interesting fight for top money. The mile and one-sixteenth test will be known as the Leif Erickson Drive Purse and is designed exclusively for four-year-olds and upward who have not won ,105 twice in 1945-46, or ,250 at any time. Eighteen horses were named overnight for this event. Six of these must be declared from the race by tomorrow, for no more than 12 horses are allowed to compete in this type of race at this track. Plagued With Thirditis Although it appears to be a wide-open betting race, the Lombardo Stables Big Albert is one of the most highly regarded middle distance racers in the field, although he has been plagued with something that could be called "thirditis" since starting his campaign here. Four times the gelded son of Big Brand has gone post-ward since the Sportsmans Park meeting opened the season, and four times he has finished third. In this most recent outing the four-year-old finished right on the heels of the greatly improved Sibley and War Wise, while prior to that he was beaten by Nancy Fly and Huri Horn Hari. He is a versatile performer who runs well over all kinds of tracks and can maintain his speed at any reasonable distance. L. O. Handleys Bodens Pal, who finished second to Chance Taker in a good effort in a recent outing, should attract considerable play. In that race he came from far in the rear and was forced to make up considerable ground to finish so close. One of the outsiders in the race may be Best Birthday, owned by F. A. Lange, III. This black gelding showed little in his Florida campaign, but is reported to show return to his best form in recent trials over this course.
