Jockeys Valets Put On Hollywood Park Payroll HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., May 30.— Valets who attend the jockeys at Hollywood Park were put on the tracks payroll as of Tuesday, May 28, it was announced yesterday by general manager J. W. Mackenzie. Under the new system 15 valets will receive 0 per racing day. In the past the custom has been for valets to be compensated by riders, with winners paying a fee of per mount and losers paying . Out of these fees it was the custom of the recipients to contribute from each mount into a pool, which was split among all valets at the end of the month. Riders, after a successful season, often have augmented these fees by liberal bonuses to their valets.
