SUNSPARK, never far back, moved into contention with a rush rounding the turn out of the backstretch, continued under steady pressure through the stretch and wore down FAST TEMPO in the final strides. The latter showed good speed in the first quarter, drew clear nearing the turn, saved ground and just failed to last. LITTLE HOOPS, prominent throughout, had no excuse. DOUBLE BOURBON turned in a creditable effort. SOULFUL was devoid of early speed while saving ground on the inside. J. J LYNCH passed tiring horses. DARBY DUNCAN was outrun to the final quarter. THE CLEANER, going forwardly •from the beginning, wrested the lead from JANANN W. nearing the turn out of the backstretch, responded to steady urging when straightened in the stretch and maintained a clear lead to the end. JANANN W., rushed up on the inside soon after the break to assume a short lead, held on gamely when displaced. WAIT FOR ME was unable to improve position under vigorous handling. MATADOR JOHN broke well, moved up on the outside rounding the turn, then was trying to bear in through the stretch. GROUSER was never a serious factor. PLAYER LEE saved ground while outrun. JINGLE JANGLE, under tight hold while close up for three-quarters, drew clear when ready, was shaken up nearing the furlong pole and was drawing out at the end. IRON PENNY, under light restraint in the backstretch, moved with a rush on the outside rounding the final turn and made a determined challenged, then held on gamely. SIR BOB showed good speed while saving ground the first quarter, assumed command while under snug hold, then continued with good energy when displaced. QUEEN ISABELLA closed willingly through the stretch. JELLICO, outrun to the final quarter, failed to menace under steady urging. LINWOOD WAG tired after a half mile. BUCKS GIRL had no excuse. SINGULAR, under steady restraint while trailing the first half mile, circled the field rounding the final turn, challenged DECISION for the lead, then drew clear and was under steady pressure to the end. DECISION assumed command early, was steered to the inside after getting clear and saved ground while maintaining the lead, then held on stubbornly. CHOW, kept within striking distance under a steady hold, lost ground entering the stretch, then closed willingly through the final furlongs. AIRY GOER, in closest attendance of the pace to the far turn, weakened slighly when put to a drive. VALDINA VICAR was unable to improve position. Overweight— Valdina Vicar, 2 pounds. JO AGNES opened a long lead in the first quarter, was taken under restraint while saving ground, was steered out off the rail entering the stretch and won with the rider looking back. FREE TRANSIT, going forwardly from the beginning and out in the middle of the track, came to the inside for the drive and finished gamely. SON ADMIRAL was under a drive leaving the backstretch, then faltered in the final sixteenth. MARKSMAN moved into contention after a quarter, then was unable to improve under steady urging. DON MILLER was not punished in the stretch when unable to reach the leaders. The others were never serious factors. GABE PAUL, under a tight hold while trailing the field, saved ground entering the backstretch, was taken out to better going in the backstretch, made his move nearing the far turn to circle his field and drew clear, then was in hand to the end. LINWOOD JIM, under stout restraint while close up early, lost ground on the final turn, then was sent to the inside leaving the sixteenth pole to finish with good courage. FLOAT ME was sent up with a rush midway of the final turn to assume a short lead, then held on gamely when displaced. F. B. EYE set the early pace under light restraint, raced GAY GINO into submission after six furlongs, then weakened when put to a drive. PLEBISCITE was unable to reach the early leaders, was taken to the inside in the backstretch, but failed to respond to light urging in the final quarter. GAY GINO weakened nearing the far turn and was not persevered with thereafter. VEGAS WHEEL was sent up fast under strong urging leaving the backstretch, circled the leaders to assume command, drew clear entering the stretch while saving ground and drew out under a smart hand ride. POMPAGLE, forwardly placed from the beginning, came over slightly on the first turn, was taken in hand entering the backstretch, remained close to • the pace until reaching the far" turn, then was put to a drive while in close quarters on the inside, then came out entering the stretch and was bearing out under pressure. DESERT BATTLE moved into contention with a rush, was sent to the inside entering the stretch and closed willingly under strong urging. VALDINA VALET was bothered slightly when caught in close quarters on the first turn, then was sent up on the outside going down the backstretch and loomed as a threat, then faltered. RESTRICTION was under a snug hold while setting the early pace, only to weaken when challenged by the winner. Y GUN had no mishap. OUR VICTORY dropped back after brief early speed and never recovered. KELSPRIDE trailed throughout. Overweight— Our Victory, 2 pounds.
