Lovely Imp Delaware Winner As Ellendale Is Disqualified DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., May 30. — Before a record throng of approximately 34,000, who took advantage of the Memorial Day holiday to jam every corner of the sun-drenched stands and lawns, Bobanet Stables Lovely Imp won the first division of the Polly Drummond Stakes, for two-year-old fillies, here today after Glen Riddle Farms Ellendale had been disqualified and placed out of the money in the 10 -horse field. After a long delay, during which they viewed a film of the race taken by the Thoroughbred Photo Service, the stewards heeded jockey Don Padgetts plea that Walter Mann, aboard Ellendale, had "impeded Lovely Imp right after the start. The decision was received vociferously by the overflow crowd, which had made Lovely Imp a slight favorite over Arthur B. Hancocks With Honor, who finished fifth. In the revised placings, Whimsical was second and Sis Brier third.
