FLAREBACK, hard held while following the early pace, took the overland route while improving his position, displaced the leader turning for home and drew clear to win easily. HASTEVILLE followed the pace to the final turn, then assumed con -"and, but was no match for the winner. BRIDES BISCUIT weakened after showing in front for about five furlongs. TROJAN FLEET was through early. GORGET quit after racing with the leader early. RELIOUS was outdistanced and was not persevered with. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. SAIKIK GLOW broke alertly and stumbled a step from the gate, set the pace throughout and held on under pressure. WEE GRAY saved ground while rallying, but was not good enough. CHALUPA was unable to improve her position. CASSET, steadied when unable to assume command, failed to rally under pressure. MIBILL D. showed nothing. GICA trailed. LOUDOUN BOY was so sore he could hardly walk during the post parade, but after being brought back to the judges stand by the rider, was permitted to run. After refusing to extend himself coming out of the gate his rider was forced to pull him up. Following the race it was announced that all wagers would be refunded. The refund was not subtracted from the mutuel pool, but was paid by the track. Scratched— 98351 Foreigner, 113. Overweight— Chalupa, 2 pounds; Casset, 1; Gica, 3.
