POLARIS, slow to reach best stride, was permitted to work his way forward steadily, came between horses in the drive and, after disposing of the leaders, held TRIMDEM safe. The latter, slow to begin and outrun to the stretch, finished fast on the extreme outside. ON BOARD, never far back, reached the lead when settled for the drive, but faltered nearing the finish. ZACAPH0TE assumed command early and made the pace to the stretch, then tired. SAMBO was outrun. WHOSAIDIT began fast, but could not keep up. SPARKER gave way after showing early speed. PALOMA LINDA, slow to begin and outrun early, came to the outside approaching the stretch, responded to vigorous urging and disposed of JOYCE W. in the last stride. The latter went to the front at once, made the pace to the final furlong, but was unable to withstand the winner and just missed. SONNY HAYNES forced the pace until nearing the finish, then weakened. CARRY MEA failed to keep up after beginning fast, was outrun to the stretch and closed willingly under punishment. ALANAY had a rough trip. DONERO was done early. MISS WALKER, forced back near the stretch, failed to threaten thereafter. MIMZY, A PROGRAMMED STARTER, WAS KICKED BY ALANAY DURING THE POST PARADE, GALLOPED OFF FIVE FURLONGS AND WAS ORDERED SCRATCHED BY THE STEWARDS. TULACHMORE, showing decided improvement, was taken back after breaking well, came to the outside entering the stretch and, responding to brisk handling, disposed of the leaders during the last sixteenth. LIKEASNOT, much used racing GOLDEN MAN into defeat, held a clear advantage when settled for the drive, but was unable to withstand the winner. GOLDEN MAN displayed good speed to the final furlong, then faltered. ROYAT, outrun to the stretch, finished fast when sent to the inside for the drive. ROI ROUGE, forwardly placed to the stretch, suffered interference near the furlong-pole and failed to recover thereafter. VICTIM tired badly after a half mile. Overweight— Victim, 1 pound. WISE PAISANO, in hand while racing within striking distance of the leaders to the stretch, responded readily when hard ridden through the stretch and, after taking command, won going away. DARBY DIMOUT, never far back, reached the lead on the final turn and continued gamely under urging, but could not hold the winner. TIGER MAN, reserved to the stretch, came to the inside for the drive and made a bold bid before tiring. RIP AWAY, slow to begin, lacked racing room when sent to the inside for the stretch run. GALAPROX was outrun. SAN YET gave way after racing prominently to the stretch. ONE ONLY had early speed, but failed to stay. Overweight— Rip Away, 114. — EIGHTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. HOMER, never far back and well ridden, came gamely when hard urged through the stretch and wore down IBEX during the final furlong. IBEX, a sharp factor from the beginning, went to the front near the stretch and held on willingly, but could not withstand the winner. DAY DODGER, badly outrun to the final quarter, finished fast on the extreme outside. APPOINTEE raced evenly without mishap. MR. X was outrun. VALDINA REX tired after beginning alertly. BAR GRENADE crossed his field when clear after the start and made the pace for five furlongs, then quit badly. MODEL C. broke down after going a quarter. Scratched— 98093 Glastauder, 113.
