New England Notes SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 6. James Graf, secretary and treasurer of the New York branch of the HBPA, is visiting here in the interest of his organization. Chris Rogers, capable young pilot from Toronto, is now associated with trainer Art Warner. He will do the riding for A. Schlager and the Maryland Stables, establishments for which Warner does the conditioning. Ross G. Smith Jr., traffic manager of the Nashua Gummed and Coated Paper Company of Nashua, N. H., was a visitor Saturday to see his colors carried successfully by Bimont in the second race. Smith, recently discharged from the armed forces, lost no time in getting back in the owners ranks with the purchase of the three-year- old son of Bitter Betty — Montmary. Al Pupino is the trainer. T. C. Melrose has purchased Unequaled, a three-year-old filly by Unbreakable, out of On Delivery, from Morris Wexler. Apprentice Eben Anyon, of Pawtucket, R. I., who was hurt in a fall during the Narragansett meeting, will resume riding this week. Owner J. L. McKnight, who races such good horses as Blenweed and Agrarian-U., is improving steadily after his recent illness. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Genter, of Minneapolis, Minn., witnessed the success of their Pay Me, in the fourth race here on Friday. The three-year-old brown son of Menow — Cash Book, is a nominee for this Saturdays 5,000 added Yankee Handicap. Bill Gillespie arrived from Laurel with two two-year-old fillies, Joyce Matthews and Seaboard.
